“Open Container” – This Saturday

Del Monte Beach Neighborhood CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) will be hosting an “Open Container” for the residents our neighborhood this Saturday, June 6th from 8:45 AM to 10:00 AM at the Tot Lot on Spray Avenue. Come meet the volunteers in our neighborhood that are trained to respond in times of crisis. This is also a great time to see our well-stocked emergency response container with all of the recent upgrades.

Our team has been working with the City of Monterey, CERV (Community Emergency Response Volunteers) a 501c3 based out of our neighborhood and with NIP (Neighborhood Improvement Project) funding to get our container ready for any disaster. This year a solar panel was installed with batteries, inverters and charging stations. We also have a base radio with an antennae that can reach Downtown Monterey, Pacific Grove and can communicate with the Coast Guard, Fire and Police.

With the help of our neighbors and community members we can assist each other during the smallest incident or the largest catastrophe. I encourage you to stop by, visit and learn more about this asset to our neighborhood.

If you cannot make it this weekend and are interested in learning more about CERT please visit their website at http://montereycert.org/

If you’d like to make a donation to our neighborhood container please do so at http://cerv501c3.org/ Scroll to the bottom and click “Donate.” Funds can be earmarked for items that we still don’t have in our container.

Hope to see you Saturday!
